Wellness
What is CORE FOCUS?
It is an exercise program through Advanced Pain Management, which bridges the gap between physical therapy and community programs. It takes different components of exercise – balance, core stabilization and strength – and puts them into functional applications. This is a holistic program, so exercise, nutrition and lifestyle management are key components.

Who should participate in CORE FOCUS?
Anyone can participate in CORE FOCUS, but it is especially recommended for:
- Those who need assistance progressing back into a regimented exercise program as a result of:
- General deconditioning
- Loss of strength or mobility from an illness and/or injury
- Pregnancy
- Busy lifestyle
- You like to exercise, but your exercises are causing you pain
- You are currently in physical therapy or have been discharged from physical therapy and you need further guidance in the performance of your exercises
- You just like to exercise, and want to participate in a fun, friendly environment.
I already exercise at a gym and/or with a personal trainer, why should I consider going through CORE FOCUS?
If you are already participating in a regular exercise program, and you are not experiencing any persistent pain issues, then you do probably do not need further assessment. However, if you have persistent pain issues that are aggravated by your current exercise program or aspects of your lifestyle, then you would benefit from an evaluation.
Because of Tanya’s close association with the APM physicians and therapist, she has developed an excellent ability to assess dysfunctional movement patterns. Continuing to exercise with unresolved dysfunctional patterns (such as excessive elevation of the shoulders during weight training), will cause pain to develop that can become a chronic issue. Resolution of these dysfunctional patterns and development of the right program for you is important to continuing with a successful long-term exercise regimen.
How do I get referred to CORE FOCUS?
You do not need a referral to participate in CORE FOCUS; however, you will need to have your physician’s approval before you participate. This is necessary to assure that you have no physical issues that would be aggravated with exercises.
Do I have to be a patient at Advanced Pain Management to participate in CORE FOCUS?
No. Anyone interested in improving their current exercise program or starting on the path to wellness is welcome.
What should I expect?
On your first visit, you should have your completed Wellness New Client Packet with you. A thorough assessment will be done. You will then be familiarized with the equipment and what to expect with your follow up sessions. An exercise program will be developed based on your goals and abilities.
How do I schedule an appointment to get started?
You can schedule an appointment with the Wellness Coordinator, Tanya Cuffee by calling 422-2966.
