Advanced Pain Management
Pain Relief Specialists
Advanced Pain Management is a multidisciplinary group of professionals who specialize in reducing or eliminating pain. We are specialists in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of conditions that interfere with an individual's ability to function. Close teamwork means we have the advantage of having a second expert opinion right here on the premises. Known as physiatrists, our physicians have advanced medical training in treating pain due to illness or injury of the muscles, nerves, tendons, joints and ligaments.
What is a Physiatrist?
Physiatrists (pronounced "fizz EE a trists" or “fizz EYE a trists”) are physicians specializing in non-surgical management and treatment of pain resulting from injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. The approach to pain management is through a total body approach to address the source of the pain and not the just the symptoms, with the goal being a return to an active, optimal lifestyle. Physiatrists see patients for a wide variety of pain problems, and the care provided includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Electrodiagnostic studies for the evaluation and diagnosis of disorders of the muscles and nerves
- Injections for pain management
- Epidural injections
- Trigger point injections
- Joint and soft tissue injections
- Non-surgical procedures for pain management
- Acupuncture
- Independent medical evaluations
- Disability determinations
- Determination of conservative vs. surgical treatment plan
All of our physicians are board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. One of our physicians is certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and two are also licensed in Medical Acupuncture. Also on our staff are highly experienced, certified physician assistants, a licensed physical therapist and a wellness coordinator.
We do our utmost to keep patients informed about their progress, and encourage them to not only participate in their treatment program but also ask questions about it, so they can be as proactive in their recovery as possible.
